Taliban Kill Former Military Officer in Kabul
by Obaidullah Ahmadi
Local sources told IntelMedium that the body of Abdul Wali Naeemi, a former officer of Afghanistan’s Special Police Forces, was found in Kabul two weeks after his disappearance.
Naeemi, a native of Panjshir province, had returned from Iran to Kabul on August 14, 2025. According to sources, he disappeared two days later, on August 16.
The sources added that Naeemi’s family managed to locate his body at the Kabul Department of Forensic Medicine about two weeks after his disappearance.
“Two bullet wounds were visible on his head and neck, his left arm was broken, and there were clear signs of torture on his body,” a local source said.
Photos obtained of Naeemi’s body show injuries on his forehead and nose. Sources added that bruises on his wrists indicate his hands had been tied behind his back during torture.
Naeemi was married and leaves behind four children.
So far, the Taliban have not commented on the killing of this former Afghan security officer.
A six-month report by the human rights organization Rawadari shows that extrajudicial killings in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan increased by 30 percent in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year.
This comes as Iran and Pakistan have deported more than two million Afghan migrants this year. Among those expelled are former security forces, journalists, and human rights defenders who face the risk of arrest, torture, and death upon return to Afghanistan.
