A Young Woman Hangs Herself in Takhar

Local sources have told IntelMedium that a young woman in the Bangi district of Takhar province has hanged herself, ending her life.

The source reported today (Thursday, April 14) that the woman was a resident of the Afaki village in the center of Bangi district and hanged herself in her home at night.

According to the sources, the reason and motivation for this suicide are not yet clear.

Local Taliban officials in Takhar have confirmed the incident but did not provide any information regarding its cause or motivation.

Domestic violence and forced marriages are considered some of the factors contributing to suicides among women and girls in the country. Additionally, mental illnesses, lack of access to treatment, and the psychological pressures caused by poverty and unemployment are also mentioned as other factors leading to suicides in Afghanistan.
