Three reliable sources confirmed to IntelMedium that the Taliban have arrested a former soldier in Nimroz province, who had crossed the border from Iran.
According to the sources, the detainee is named Mohammad Atiq Dara and is a resident of Dara district in Panjshir province.
One source in Panjshir confirmed that Mohammad Atiq was arrested by the Taliban on Friday, April 8, as he entered Afghanistan from Iran through Nimroz province, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
According to the sources’ information, Mohammad Atiq was a member of the former Afghan military and served in Helmand province.
However, the reason for his arrest is still unclear.
In the past, the Taliban have repeatedly arrested and imprisoned former military personnel.
The group is accused of carrying out revenge killings against former security forces.
Additionally, the arrest of Panjshir residents by the Taliban has increased, and they are often accused of collaborating with opposition fronts.
