Disappearance of a Trader in Kunduz, 15 Days Without News of His Whereabouts
Local sources from Kunduz have reported to IntelMedium that a young trader named Haji Setar has been missing for 15 days, with no news of his whereabouts.
According to sources, this young trader is from Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province and was engaged in the wheat trade in the Basius neighborhood of the district. Sources have confirmed that Haji Setar comes from a family of traders, with his brother and uncle also involved in business. They emphasized that he had no conflicts with any individual or group.
A close relative of Haji Setar, speaking with IntelMedium, said: “15 days ago, Haji Setar left home with a white Gulf vehicle to go to Jalalabad to collect 1.8 million Afghanis that he had with a person. However, there has been no news from him, and he is missing. His mother and family are extremely worried.”
This close source also added that there was 8 million Afghanis in cash in Haji Setar’s bank account.
Haji Setar’s family also confirmed to IntelMedium that they have had no contact with him for the past 15 days and are deeply concerned that something may have happened to him or that he may have been kidnapped.
According to sources, the Taliban have not taken any action on this matter and have yet to comment on it.
This is not the only case of disappearance. A few days ago, Esra, a young girl and granddaughter of General Nazir Mohammad, was rescued from a kidnapper’s clutches in Faizabad. The kidnapper, who was a member of the Taliban, has been arrested and confessed that they are a 12-member team. Additionally, another child in Badakhshan went missing, and his body was found without eyes, heart, or kidneys.
Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, the murder of former military personnel, illegal arrests, poverty, theft, and kidnapping have significantly increased. In many of these cases, the perpetrators are linked to the Taliban or its fighters. However, the Taliban consistently refrain from commenting on these matters and deny responsibility.
