A reporter from Russia’s “Channel One” killed in Belgorod mine explosion
Anna Prokofyeva, a 35-year-old reporter for Russia’s “Channel One” television network, died on Tuesday (March 25) following a mine explosion in the Belgorod region, near the Ukrainian border.
Dmitry Volkov, her cameraman colleague, was severely injured and was taken to the hospital.
A statement from the network said that Prokofyeva was killed while carrying out her professional duties.
“Channel One” television accused Ukrainian forces of planting the mine, but this claim has not been independently confirmed.
The Belgorod region, which borders eastern Ukraine, has been repeatedly targeted by drone and artillery attacks since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
